Stop fighting about Oompa.

i am writing this because i am so upset about the bickering and fighting that is going on about oompa.

this was an amazing wonderful, peaceful, giving man who never met a strager who is now deceased and you are taking his name and running all over the place with it using it for your own agendas.

he is not a statistic.

Bummer weekend

this has been a lousy weekend!

in july 2009 my 20 year old nephew, ryan, died of complications from heroin and his best friend jeff neville spoke at the funeral.

he gave a very emotional talk and said that he was going to work at getting off the stuff himself.

I feel it too Donny. Reminds me of the CCR song. Bad Moon Rising.

It's coming close to the anniversarys of my little brothers death and 2 of my touchstone Uncles. (one who hung himself under mysterious cicumstances)

I lit one of the cyber candles for Eric and it did help, I dont know why, but it did. Friday is a real candle lighting vigil for Oompa, I will light a special one for all my passed loved ones.....

i can be very emotional about certain things and when i heard about oompa, even though i don't know him i was sometimes in tears about it, i will miss his posts, what i want to do for oompa is to have a moment of silence for him, i know i don't post on here much am more of a lurker but also i want everyone else to have a moment of silence also for our friend and also for all the others who have committed suicide because of the watchtowers policys..

What Can We Do to Show How We Cared about Oompa?

i know others have posted on the original thread.

several people, including myself, would like to do something concrete to show our concerns re: his treatment by the jw, and how important he was to all of us here.

i suggested a handwritten note, on behalf of the whole community here, flowers, and perhaps a donation to a charity that helps people get back on their feet.

our friend, oompa, has passed away.

just recieved the news a couple of hours ago, and have almost no details.

it happened today or yesterday, he took his own life.

Bloodguilt

recently i went to a public talk in the mafia capitol of the us- not where i grew up.. an italian american was the speaker, and the entire thing sounded like it was taken out of the godfather- especially as the keyword for that talk was bloodguilt.

and was repeated a million times.

now most people around me had fallen into the hypnotic trance which occurs in khs, and i was of course, alert and paying attention.. his logic was somehow that all religions except jws start wars and are bloodguilty, and then he got to the (logical) conclusion that we are all bloodguilty if we dont convert people to be jws.. it was a weird argument for sure- but add to that the accent and it was comical.. did hearing the talks in another language or dialect ever help you realize how silly its sounds- like a parody of itself.....

Hi perfect1, this is kind of funny to me.

While traveling through Northeren Italy I went to the Hall , my Italian is very bad ,but I had a bible , song book, watchtower and a Kingdom Ministery ( km's are different in other countries)

This little town had been taken over by Southerners. Messisna, Sicily, etc. Some of the these Brothers had even been made Elders ..Oh my god. The locals were in an uproar.The peasants are taking over. It was a big deal.

I had no idea that there was still a cultural class even in the KHalls. I talked to Family when I got home and it's here in CA too. What ever....smile..

Oh and if you must go to a meeting ,it's way funner not knowing what is being said and singing a song in the wrong launguage. Plus your right , it's less likely you will go all hypnotized from the repetitive words.Plus in Italy it's no big deal to go to meeting after drinking wine, even for lunch. You just wouldnt want to be intoxicated as you would only embaress yourself, if you know what I mean.
